It's known that during the Thirty Years' War that took place in Europe between 1618 and 1648, soldiers used Swedish fire torches (also called Canadian candles) for heating, lighting, and cooking meals.
Today, it's a really great way to cook food and boil water when you're camping—and it's really easy to ignite.
Step 1: Get a Piece of Wood
To start with, you need a piece of log. Any kind of wood will do, as long as it's dry.
Step 2: Do the Cuts
If you're using a bigger log, you can make more than two cuts.
It's easier to make the cuts when the piece of wood is still attached with a longer log.
Step 3: Put Kindling in the Cuts
Use paper and sticks as fuel to start the fire.
